Originally built as a gentlemen's chambers in 1926, the establishment was converted into a 30 room boutique hotel in 1990 by Bill MacMahon, Michael Scott Mitchell, Stephen Roberts, Tom and Paula MacMahon, and the extended MacMahon family. Well ahead of their time, they focused on enhancing the original character of the building and evoking the sense of being in an inner city apartment rather than a hotel suite.

For almost twenty years, Regents Court was more home than hotel, to many guests from all walks of life all over the world. It was a fusion of old and new, each studio with muted colours, a modern furniture classic, and artwork from many artists who stayed over the years including Tracey Moffatt, Barbie Kjar, John Wolseley and Allan Kaprow.

A little out of the ordinary, the aim was always to create a warm atmosphere, with absolute privacy but provide an opportunity guests to engage with each other.

The MacMahon family no longer operates Regents Court as a hotel. Sadly on the 31st March 2008 the building was sold.

Paula and Tom wish to thank everyone for their support and for sharing their time with us.

The building is now strata apartments and some individual owners offer studio apartment accommodation.
