Originally built as a gentlemen's chambers in 1926, the establishment was converted into a 30 room boutique hotel in 1990 by Bill MacMahon, Michael Scott Mitchell, Stephen Roberts, Tom and Paula MacMahon, and the extended MacMahon family. Well ahead of their time, they focused on enhancing the original character of the building and evoking the sense of being in an inner city apartment rather than a hotel suite.
For almost twenty years, Regents Court was more home than hotel, to many guests from all walks of life all over the world. It was a fusion of old and new, each studio with muted colours, a modern furniture classic, and artwork from many artists who stayed over the years including Tracey Moffatt, Barbie Kjar, John Wolseley and Allan Kaprow.
The aim was always been to create a warm atmosphere, with absolute privacy but provide an opportunity guests to engage with each other and staff on the rooftop terrace or in our sitting room.
A little out of the ordinary, strange things happened at Regents Court - you never knew who you might meet or who you would know!
Sadly in March 2008 the family decided to sell Regents Court. If you would like to keep in touch with Paula and Tom, they can be via email at :
